Bethesda previously teased that it would be coming out with a spin-off card game based on the hit and popular "The Elder Scrolls" franchise. However, it seems that fans would have to wait a little longer for the title to arrive, as reports established that the release of "The Elder Scrolls: Legends" card game has been delayed to 2016.

According to PC Gamer, although Bethesda did not provide a specific release date for "The Elder Scrolls: Legends," it was expected that the card game will be released before the year ends. However, updates from Pete Hines, Bethesda's vice president of marketing, have cleared up the expectations. Hines recently responded to a fan's tweet about the title, saying "I think it's safe to say it's not coming in the next 15 days."

The industry follower added that according to Hines, although the game itself has passed the developing stages and is already playable, "The Elder Scrolls: Legends" still lack the finesse and polish to be considered a final, marketable version.

"The Elder Scrolls: Legends" was announced at this year's E3 event. Although details about the design and gameplay itself are scarce, iDigitalTimes reckoned that it may loosely follow the mechanics of another hit and popular card game title, "Hearthstone," from Blizzard Entertainment. This means that although Bethesda's take is on a free-to-play model, it will still be a digital collectible cards game, with players battling against one another with a set deck of cards, based on the characters from "The Elder Scrolls" franchise.

"The Elder Scrolls: Legends" is slated to be released initially for the PC and iPad at launch. Meanwhile, GameSpot observed that since Bethesda seems to be at full throttle with mobile games (the company was reported to be opening a new mobile game division), fans may expect the Bethesda card game to also launch for other compatible devices after.
