Bethesda has a great weekend in store for gamers with a special event that includes a free sampling of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, "The Elder Scrolls Online."

The event is called "The Elder Scrolls Online" Free Play Weekend, which is aptly titled as it already started last Wednesday, and is available for PlayStation 4, PC and Mac. It will be opening up the full game for those who want to try it and, hopefully, these players will continue even after this treat.

PS4 users already had a head start on the special offering. The game is free to download but requires a large amount of storage space at 73 GB. Players do not need to have an active subscription to PlayStation Plus in order to take advantage of this goody. Access for Microsoft Windows and Mac players followed a couple of hours later with a file size of 85 GB.

Unfortunately for Xbox One users, Bethesda has yet to reveal details for their very own free treat. But that does not mean that it will not be taking place as the game developer said that they will be rolling out more information about it soon. The difference for Xbox One users is that once the event starts, they will need an Xbox Live Gold membership to partake in it.

Those who have successfully joined the fun will have access to the full "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited" base game and will be given "500 crowns to spend in the Crown Store on fun costumes, unique pets, helpful scrolls, and more."

"After the Free Play Weekend ends, you can continue right where you left off! Any characters you create, Crown Packs or Crown Store items you purchase, as well as any progress you make during the Free Play Weekend will carry over when you purchase the game," Bethesda wrote as they explained the mechanics.

"The Elder Scrolls Online" Free Play Weekend for PS4 users will end on Nov. 20, 11:59 p.m. local time in Europe and 11:59 p.m. ET in North America. PC/Mac players meanwhile will have until Nov 21, 1 p.m. ET/6 p.m. GMT to play the game.
