A number of titles in the "The Elder Scrolls" franchise are currently on sale on Steam.

Players who never had the chance to play "The Elder Scrolls" franchise may now be able to do so as the series is currently at a 50 percent discount on Steam. According to Comicbook, the games also come with numerous downloadable contents (DLCs), special items, as well as numerous useful upgrades for their characters.

"The Elder Scrolls" series starts with "The Elder Scrolls: Arena" which was released in 1994. The game's concept was changed throughout its development until it became a full-blown role-playing game (RPG). The game initially sold only 20,000 units, but as time went on, it became a hit game.

The second game, titled "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall," was developed soon after the first game. "Daggerfall" included an improved character generation engine, and it was developed using one of the first three-dimensional (3D) engines, the "XnGine." The second game featured 15,000 towns, cities, and villages as well as 750,000 non-playable characters (NPCs). "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall" was released on Aug. 31, 1996.

"The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire" and "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard" were then developed soon after and were released in 1997 and 1998, respectively. However, the games were not widely received by Bethesda's loyal audience as the developer removed the player's choice of creating their own character and reduced the size of the game world.

Four years after, "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind" was released in 2002 and was developed using a Direct3D powered engine called "Gamebryo." The objects in the game were crafted by hands instead of using computer algorithm.

"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" followed soon after in 2006 and featured improved artificial intelligence (AI), as well as improved physics and graphics. The game was critically acclaimed by various critics and was scored 93.29 percent by Game Rankings and 94 percent by Metacritic.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was released on Nov. 11, 2011 and was also critically acclaimed by various game reviewers, and was hailed as "PC Game of The Year" by Gamespot and IGN. A special edition was released in 2016 with enhanced graphics.
