'The Elder Scrolls VI' rumor: Bethesda to complete 'Fallout 4' DLC first before focusing on next 'The Elder Scrolls?'

While developer Bethesda has yet to confirm it, many fans are already expecting that "The Elder Scrolls VI" will launch in 2019 at the earliest, at least based on the previous four-year release timeline of the earlier "The Elder Scrolls" titles. The latest in the franchise, "The Elder Scrolls Online," was rebranded last year. However, the most hardcore of the fans will be disappointed to know that Bethesda may have been stalling the start of development.

According to Neuro Gadget, although Bethesda may have subtly confirmed that the sequel to "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is happening, it doesn't mean that the studio is already working on it. The industry follower mentioned that Bethesda has many long-running franchises under its belt, and the studio is known to fully polish and focus on one franchise at a time.

Currently, the developer has "Fallout 4," and since Bethesda has already confirmed at least a number of expansion packs for the title, fans of "The Elder Scrolls" will have to wait for "Fallout 4" DLC to be completed first before hearing any details about "The Elder Scrolls VI."

Pete Hines, VP for marketing at Bethesda, already said this at last year's Gamescom, according to Yibada. Since the studio is focusing on the current installment of "Fallout," this means that other projects are in the back burner, including "The Elder Scrolls VI."

However, will this mean that fans will not see a "The Elder Scrolls" reference at this time? MNR Daily doesn't think so. According to the industry observer, Bethesda has already confirmed the studio's attendance in the upcoming E3 2016 conference in June. The developer may choose to provide fans with preliminary work for an upcoming "The Elder Scrolls" title, and may even confirm some details such as the story for "The Elder Scrolls VI," where it will be located, and who the new characters will be.
