'The Evil Within 2' news: System requirements revealed for new horror game

A twisted horror is only one of the many others the players will have to face in "The Evil Within 2."Steam/The Evil Within 2

PC owners are in for quite a scare, not only from "The Evil Within 2," but also from its system requirements, as Bethesda has just announced that the game will be requiring some of the latest in PC gaming hardware to be fully enjoyed.

PC Gamer suggested that the upcoming horror sequel continues its predecessor's tradition of demanding requisites before it can be played. However, its minimum system requirements truly are taxing by today's standards in hardware.

To be able to run the game on the bare minimum, players will need a PC with an operating system of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10, all 64-bit, a central processing unit (CPU) of Intel Core i5-2400 or Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) FX-8320, 8 gigabytes (GB) of random access memory (RAM), 40 GB of hard drive space, and last but not the least, a graphics processing unit (GPU) of NVIDIA GTX 660 with 2 GB of video memory or an AMD HD 7970 with 3 GB of video memory.

Players wanting a more high-resolution, or more atmospheric presentation of the game will need to follow the recommended system requirements of at least an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and most importantly, an NVIDIA GTX 1060 with 6 GB of video memory or and AMD RX 480 with 8 GB of video memory.

Bethesda, the game's publisher, will also reportedly be altering the said requirements as the game draws nearer to its launch date. Meaning the minimum and recommended system requirements may become more taxing or lighter, or at the very least become more detailed.

"The Evil Within 2" is an upcoming third-person survival horror game where players will step into the shoes of Detective Sebastian Castellanos as he searches for his lost daughter. To achieve this goal, Castellanos must descend into the nightmarish world of STEM, system that allows multiple minds to be connected. Complications arise when the STEM bears horrifying threats and monstrosities and twist the world around Castellanos. Players will be given the option to face the horrors head-on with weapons and traps or sneak past them and use cunning to survive.

"The Evil Within 2" is set to arrive on Friday, Oct. 13., for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
