BBC Two has ordered the third season of crime drama "The Fall," the network announced Wednesday. 

In a Twitter post, BBC Two said that Detective Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) and serial killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan) will return to tie up the loose ends left when season 2 ended. 

"The cat and mouse game between Gibson and Spector has one last act to play out. Who will win? #TheFall will return," the post said. 

The second season concluded with a 90-minute episode, wherein Spector was hit by a gun while hiding in the woods. During that time, the serial killer was showing Gibson where he left his brunette victim named Rose Stagg (Valene Kane). 

Dornan claimed in an interview with The Mirror, posted back in 2013, that playing the role of Paul Spector messed up with his head, and he was having a hard time portraying it because he is the type of actor who would instantly snap out of character after the director yells "cut." 

"I don't think it would have been too good for me to stay in that head space for three months," the actor from Belfast claimed. 

But it seems like the actor has already adapted to the role since he had agreed to return for the series' third season. Also, Dornan recently made it to global stardom status after appearing as the rich and powerful Christian Grey in the previously released film adaptation of E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey." 

Endemol Shine International takes care of the distribution of "The Fall," and it managed to sell it to at least 200 countries. Some of the networks that showcase the crime thriller include Netflix in the U.S., Australia's BBC First, DirectV in Latin America, RTE in Ireland, Bravo Canada, Globosat in Brazil, ZDF Enterprises in Germany, as well as Fox International Channels all across Asia. 

"The Fall" season 3 is expected to air next year.
