Iris (Candice Patton) will have a lot to deal with in the upcoming episode of the hit The CW series "The Flash." For one, a big shard of glass will find its way into her stomach, prompting Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team to work fast to save her life.

In "Fast Lane," the promo shows Iris as the unfortunate victim of a clash between The Flash and an unknown villain. Before she can move, the sharp object pierces her belly, while a horrified Barry attempts but fails to save her. The superhero laments that he is just not fast enough to prevent his best friend from getting hurt. Aside from the physical injury she will sustain, Iris will also be dealing with a stubborn Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale).

The synopsis reveals that Wally is being kept busy by his drag racing. His sister is naturally worried about his safety. Last episode, he asked Iris to come visit their dying mother, Francine (Vanessa Williams). This gave them the chance to bond and get to know each other better. Iris has learned that Wally has been joining a bunch of races for the past weeks. She will talk to him about his reckless behavior, hoping that he will drop the dangerous hobby. Will Wally listen to her?

Meanwhile, the teaser also shows Wells (Tom Cavanagh) remembering Zoom's (Tony Todd) order to steal Barry's speed. Ever since the supervillain asked him to betray Team Flash in exchange for his daughter's safety, Wells has been bidding his time to make his move. Now that he and Barry will work together to close the breaches between Earth and Earth 2, will the scientist finally get his chance?

His treachery could not have come at a better time, as Barry will be up to his elbows fighting a new villain. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) christens him Tar Pit (Marco Grazzini), as his power is "basically drowning people in tar." The clip shows him coming out of the black goo and throwing balls of molten tar at his targets.

"The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
