"The Flash" season 2 will feature an episode directed by none other than Kevin Smith. Smith is known for directing films such as "Clerks" and "Tusk" and he is often taken as an advisor for many comic book films such as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

In an interview with Collider during this year's Television Critics Association event, "The Flash" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg stated that Smith's agent called and revealed that Smith's favorite series was "The Flash" and that he was very open to direct an episode if the studios would be willing to give him a shot.

Kreisberg explained that while he did not know Smith personally he is a fan of Smith's work. He also mentioned that there would be a publicity angle to the decision of letting Smith in and direct an episode, even if Smith was a big fan of the comics and of the show.

"As responsible executive producers, we always have to look at that, but we would never look at that at the expense of our own show," Kreisberg stated. "Knowing what a fan he is, and knowing the scrutiny he's going to be under, I know he's going to bring it to his fullest, and I'm just so excited."

During the panel, Kreisberg also mentioned that not only will Kevin Smith be tackling an episode but there are plans to bring back Gorilla Grodd and even feature Gorilla City, the area Grodd was brought to in the last episode he was featured in.

Kreisberg explained that Gorilla City and Grodd's full story will be a "slow burn" in the sense that it will be built up from season to season similar to how Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins were initially brought up in seasons 1 and 2 of "Arrow" before becoming the main focus in season 3.
