"The Flash" seasons 1 and 2 have seen Barry Allen, also known as the Flash (Grant Gustin), travel to the past multiple times to fix a problem, but very rarely has the show featured the consequences of these actions, other than introducing the Time Wraiths. Season 3, however, is going to come with major changes to this time traveling conundrum.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained that right from the premiere episode, Barry will discover that there are major consequences in changing the past, particularly one as big as saving his mother and altering the lives of everyone around him.

These changes don't just circle around him. It also has an effect on other CW superhero shows such as "Arrow" and "Supergirl." The former will see some of the previously deceased characters making a return due to the changes in history, and the latter, through a major crossover event, will become a part of the Earth-1 reality.

Kreisberg explains that one of the reasons Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscherr) is back is to remind Barry about what he had done when he tinkered with time and how history has been changed.

"It will be resolved, but there will be consequences that last throughout the season, and quite frankly, last throughout the series. That's one of the things that we're attempting to do is have the pitfalls of time travel be long-lasting and that some things can be fixed, and then some things are broken forever," Kreisberg explained.

He also explained that, in the "Flashpoint" comic books, Barry had to deal with Thomas Wayne as Batman and a world-ending war between the Amazons and Atlanteans. This is not possible for the show, but it was a blessing in disguise as it reportedly allowed them to shift the "Flashpoint" story to something more personal for Barry.

"The Flash" season 3 premiered last Oct. 4, and episode 2 is set to air on Oct. 11.
