'The Flash' season 3 spoilers: Iris and Barry no longer a couple?

According to a report from Yibada, leaked photos of the set for "The Flash" season 3 indicate that Barry Allen aka the Flash (Grant Gustin) and Iris West (Candice Patton) might no longer be a romantic couple when season 3 premieres this October. It is even possible that they are no longer close friends.

The images, shared by YVRShoots via Twitter, showcase the two kissing in front of the West family home. While many have been quick to presume this means the two will be together in season 3, the report points out that this scene mirrors the season 2 finale and might just be a quick flashback when Barry reminisces what he lost.

The report continues to explain that since Barry went back in time to save his mother, he will wake up in the present day without his powers and Iris is likely to have someone else as her boyfriend or husband. This is because events had happened differently in the timeline and now Iris and Barry never grew up together so closely.

Fans speculate that this will indeed be the case as season 3 will be following the "Flashpoint" storyline from the comic books, in which Flash travelled to save his mother but in doing so he altered history so drastically that it led to many people dying and the world coming to an end, forcing him to somehow go back and change history again if he could.

While Iris is likely to be back by the premiere episode, back in May it was revealed that actors Tom Cavanagh and Violett Beane will not be returning until the latter half of the season. This is because the new timeline meant Reverse-Flash never killed Harrison Wells and in this timeline Barry may meet the real Earth-1 Harrison (Cavanagh) and his daughter Jesse (Beane).

"The Flash" season 3 will premiere this Oct. 4.
