The introduction of metahumans aka super-powered humans has become a central plot in both seasons 1 and 2 of CW's "The Flash" series. However, as stated in a report from Cinema Blend, they will be a little different when season 3 rolls in this coming October.

During this year's San Diego Comic Con, actor Grant Gustin, who plays Barry Allen aka the Flash, explained that the metahumans will undergo some changes. This will particularly be directed towards their reasons for coming to Central City and attacking the main heroes.

"So the first year was everyone showing up because of the particle accelerator exploding, and then in the second yeah it was Zoom (Teddy Sears) bringing them through the breach," he explained. "This year, metahumans are showing up for a completely different reason. So we're meeting a lot of new ones initially."

According to the report, Barry's choice of traveling back in time to save his mother from Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh/Matt Letscher) will cause a ripple in history, altering events to the point where Barry no longer has superpowers and his mother and father are alive but it will also affect the way metahumans are made and what they do.

However, given that the whole plot arc of "Flashpoint," the story from the comics that season 3 is taking inspiration from, is about Barry restoring the timeline to its former version by allowing his mother to die then it is likely these changes will only last for a few episodes. When Barry fixes the timeline, these changes may no longer be apparent.

It is yet undetermined how current metahumans like Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) will be affected by the change in history.
