Just as everything seems to be back in order in Central City, Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) enemies will wreak havoc once more in the mid-season finale of CW's "The Flash" season 4. In the upcoming episode 9, the Scarlet Speedster and his friends will not only be confronted by one, but two meta-humans plotting to destroy the city. As per the latest teaser, The Flash will find himself trapped by the season's main villain, The Thinker (Neil Sandilands).

Team Flash has been busy fighting off an interdimensional threat in CW's special cross-over episodes titled "Crisis on Earth-X." In the end, Barry was able to stop the menacing Nazis from Earth-X, and the much-awaited wedding of Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) finally happened. With the enemies from the alternate version of Earth all gone, the viewers thought that Central City was safe once again. It was, but not for long, as "The Flash" season 4 mid-season finale is expected to bring forth two of Barry's foes, The Thinker and Amunet (Katee Sackhoff), Screen Rant reported.

"The Flash" season 4 episode 9, titled "Don't Run," will feature the members of Team Flash in bad shape. For one, Barry will be cornered by The Thinker and his sidekick, The Mechanic (Kim Engelbrecht). According to the mid-season finale's synopsis, The Thinker will be able to trap The Flash inside a "speedster-proof prison," which will deem every effort to use superspeed useless. The villain has a group loaded with meta-humans, ready to unleash chaos in Central City, but reports suggest that Team Flash will be confronting "half a dozen" of new metas soon.

With Barry now in the hands of The Thinker, it looks like the honeymoon for the newly-weds will have to wait. Instead, Iris will be working on saving her husband from the villains. She will be the one in charge at the S.T.A.R.S. Labs, given that it is not only Barry who is in danger in the mid-season finale. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), will be captured by the returning villain, Amunet, and it looks like the latter needs Caitlin's knowledge in performing a medical procedure. Caitlin will not be able to access her Killer Frost powers to defend herself, as Amunet has placed "meta-dampener handcuffs" to keep her in control.

Iris will be put on the spot to track down Barry and Caitlin before time runs out. The fate of the heroes will be determined in "The Flash" season 4 episode 9 mid-season finale, which will air next Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. EST.
