'The Fosters' season 3 spoilers: Jesus, Connor to experience love problems

After the roller coaster of events that happened within the Adams-Foster household, the family will face another set of trials when "The Fosters" returns for the second half of season 3.

At the end of the midseason finale, Mariana's (Cierra Ramirez) twin brother Jesus surprised everyone when he arrived home during the celebration of Callie's (Maia Mitchell) adoption. The family thought that he was only back for a visit, but Jesus confessed to his twin sister that he could no longer return to the boarding school.

This time, Jesus will be portrayed by "Austin & Ally" star Noah Centineo after actor Jake T. Austin left the role in season 2.

In the sneak peek at the second half of "The Fosters" season 3, Jesus, Mariana, and his ex-girlfriend Emma (Amanda Leighton) are hanging out. The typical teasing between the twins was interrupted by an unexpected visit from Jesus' other ex-girlfriend and Marianna's best friend Lexi (Bianca A. Santos). Jesus and Emma shared an awkward glance with each other when Lexi revealed that she will now stay in the U.S. for good.

Back in season 1, Jesus and Lexi had to cut their relationship short because her family had to move back to Honduras because they lacked proper documentation. Will Lexi's return cause more girl problems for the already problematic Jesus?

However, Jesus is not the only child of Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) Adams Foster who will be facing love problems when the series returns in January. According to Hayden Byerly, his character Jude will have a hard time dealing with the distance between him and his boyfriend Connor (Gavin MacIntosh).

"He goes through a lot of issues with that and kind of dealing with the stress of being far away from someone and not knowing what is happening with them, how they are, what's going on, what are they doing," the teen actor explained.

The Adams Foster family will return on Freeform (previously known as ABC Family), starting Jan. 25, 2016.
