The kids in "The Fosters" haven't had an easy life, and their stories will likely continue on in the next season. Season 2 has just ended and with ABC Family announcing the renewal of the show for a third season, it appears like "The Fosters" is trying to make a summer premiere.

However, there is someone who is confirmed to not return for season 3. Jake T. Austin has officially signed off from the show and while this is sad news for fans, it is also an answer to one of season 2's cliffhangers: it means Austin's character Jesus will be killed in a car accident.

Austin made his announcement via Twitter, but did not explain if he decided to leave the show or if it's the producers' decision.

"I'm honored to have been a part of such a groundbreaking series, but I personally want to let you know that my time on the show.... has come to an end. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family, it's been a pleasure. –JTA," his tweet said.

His departure from the show is indeed intriguing, but what stokes the fans' curiosity more is why the news got out this quickly. His tweet actually spoiled his character's story arc immediately after the season 2 finale.

Meanwhile, "The Fosters" season 3 is believed to pick up right where it left off — narrating the emotional stories of the characters. There's a good chance that Callie has come up with a decision for her future, and that Jude and Connor are doing better.

As mentioned, "The Fosters" is eyeing on a summer release this year. So even without Austin in the show, fans will still get to see Teri Polo, Maia Mitchell and the other cast members return. Nonetheless, there has been no official word when the premiere date will be, but by the looks of things, fans won't have to wait long.
