Among the superhero shows that are currently on air is "The Gifted," which is a refreshing take on the X-Men characters from the comics. While characters like Polaris (Emma Dumont) and Thunderbird (Blaine Redford) are putting their takes on the established mutants forward on the show, the same goes for Jamie Chung, who plays the teleporting Blink.

Speaking to ComicBook.com during the New York Comic Con, Chung revealed the story behind the markings on her character's face and how they are connected to her powers. Chung explained that in the show, the limitations to Blink's powers are visible, compared to the comic book counterpart, who is actually fluid with them.

The actress said that in the story of the show, it needed to be something very visual when it comes to her character. She also explained that the Blink in the series would find it difficult to travel anywhere because she needs to be familiar with the space.

Chung went on to say that she is frequently discussing the limitations of Blink's powers with the writers and found it fun to establish the rules for the show. The actress said that as Blink grows stronger, so do her powers, and the viewers will be able to notice that. Blink will keep getting markings as her powers continue to grow.

Apart from getting markings and growing powers, Chung teased that Blink will also be able to develop the leadership skills that she is known for in the Exiles comics.

Meanwhile, another character whom fans and viewers would want to see get developed immensely is that of Lorna Dane a.k.a. Polaris. Among the crew mainly composing of Blink, Thunderbird, and Eclipse (Sean James Teale), Polaris is pretty much the more powerful in the bunch due to her ability to control metal.

X-Men fans of both the movies and comics know full well that Magneto just so happens to have the same power set. Coincidence? Not at all, because Magneto is Polaris' father. Previously, showrunner Matt Nix did confirm that the show would incorporate that detail of Lorna's parentage. However, fans should not expect either Michael Fassbender or Ian McKellen to appear in the first season.

Speaking with TV Guide, Emma Dumont revealed that Lorna's parentage will be a big part of her struggle in the first season and going into the next. Dumont went on to say that Lorna hears the rumors about who her birth father is, and that they have a very similar power set, so Lorna is trying to figure out what that means for her. If Magneto is actually the villain that people say his or if he is only doing what he thinks is right.

Dumont explained that Lorna has those same opinions and feelings and that she also feels that same kind of anger that Magneto is rumored to have; and people will always compare them and say that they are very similar. Deep down, Lorna is longing for a family, but she does not know if that is the family she wants to be a part of or if that makes her a bad person or not.

It seems like Lorna will not have any firsthand experience with Magneto even though she knows or at least suspects that he is her father. There has been no information on who her mother is, or what happened to her, so most of Lorna's past is still unknown.

When asked about the X-Men and the Brotherhood, Dumont shared that the characters live in a world where the two mutant factions are a mystery and almost like an urban legend. She said that some of those questions might definitely be answered because it will change the world that they are living in.

"The Gifted" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
