For a while now, there has been speculation that Baron Von Strucker will appear in "The Gifted." Now, it seems that those speculations have been confirmed in the form of what will happen in an upcoming episode.

The official synopsis of episode 8 of "The Gifted," titled "threat of eXtinction," reveals that while more people seek refuge in the Mutant Underground, the group is faced with a threat when they discover that among those refugees is a Sentinel Services spy. In the previous episodes, it was revealed how there are mutants working for the anti-mutant agency to track down other mutants, like Pulse (Zach Roerig) for example.

Reed (Stephen Moyer) visits his estranged father and discovers that the secrets from his family's past could prove to be useful. Knowing that the surname of the show's main characters is Strucker, fans have already speculated that this references the Marvel comics villain as previously mentioned.

Now, it is confirmed that Baron Von Strucker's twin children, Andreas Von Strucker (Paul Cooper) and Andrea Von Strucker (Caitlin Mehner), also known collectively as Fenris, will be making their way in the series. It was previously rumored that the series' own Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Andy (Percy Hynes White) were the show's take on the twins, however, that is not the case after the reveal of episode 8's synopsis.

The appearance of the Fenris twins has been teased in the second episode, where mutant researcher Roderick Campbell (Garrett Dillahunt), also known as Ahab in the comics, took interest in the Strucker children. As he entered a laboratory, he has an employee bring in whatever they have on siblings who are mutants. In the midst of the files that show up on a monitor, there is a newspaper article referring to a mutant terror event that happened in Rio de Janeiro back in 1962.

A closer look on the article revealed that the suspects are described to be of European descent, twins that have blue eyes and blonde hair, and are very dangerous. The description definitely checks out with the mutant twins in the comics.

In the comics, the Fenris twins can fly as well as generate energy blasts, only when holding hands. As to why they can only tap into their mutant powers when they hold hands, it was a result of a modification of their X-gene while they were still in the womb. The von Strucker twins are also known to be terrorists and white supremacists, and have executed attacks all over the world.

"The Gifted" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EDT on FOX.
