When a usually calm and collected woman such as Alicia (Julianna Margulies) turns violent, one has no choice but to make a run for it, as Eli (Alan Cumming) will be seen doing in the upcoming episode of the CBS series "The Good Wife."

In "Iowa," the promo reveals Alicia going berserk when the campaign strategist goes into her house to apologize for keeping the secret about to her dead lover Will (Josh Charles). Eli realizes Alicia has had enough hurt to last her a lifetime, after experiencing pain firsthand. Courtney (Vanessa Williams) did not even stop to listen to Eli's pitiful request that she stay with him and forgo leaving for California. The rejection was agonizing enough that he felt a certain empathy for Alicia, who has weathered quite a lot of love problems.

Eli tells Alicia that Will loved her and was willing to give up everything just to make their relationship work. Unfortunately, his admission comes too late, as Will is long dead. Alicia lost her chance of being happy with a man who loved her more than his career. She is furious at Eli for playing God when he decided that the voicemail Will sent was not meant to be heard by her. After all these years of wondering, she finally learns that someone loved her enough to fight for her, but it's too late.

In the clip, Alicia and Eli are calmly sitting together, when Eli apologizes for what he did. Alicia, however, has had enough and she commands Eli to stop talking. She then vents out her anger and pain on the poor man by hurling her drink at him. Not contented, Alicia goes to the kitchen and grabs a stack of plates, which she proceeds to throw at the fleeing Eli one by one. When he thankfully gets out of her house, Alicia slams the door in his face.

"The Good Wife" season 11 will return on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
