'The Good Wife' season 7 spoilers: Alicia 'intrigued' by possible new love interest Alex

TV actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins The Good Wife Wikipedia

When "Extant" star Jeffrey Dean Morgan was announced as a series regular in "The Good Wife" season 7, fans were convinced that will be more than just an experienced investigator and the so-called "new Kalinda" but also Alicia's new love interest.

In an interview with TV Line, Morgan himself did not have much to share, admitting that he "never even saw the show" until he was cast the role of Alex. He simply said that "he's an investigator that goes to work for Alicia. Beyond that, it's a little bit of a mystery. I've only read the first script."

"I can tell you that he's an ex-lawyer who got into some trouble and finds himself now being an investigator. He's got a laid-back personality and a quick wit. I like that kind of dynamic. And I think it will be a nice dynamic for Julianna [Margulies] to play off of," Morgan said.

The actor also added that Alex's entrance in "The Good Wife" season 7 will be his first ever meeting with Alicia, who he said will be "intrigued" by the investigator's personality. Morgan also recognizes the hearsays about the two hitting it off.

"I know that there's a lot of speculation that there might be some possible romance thing happening" Morgan told E! News during San Diego Comic Con. "And I know Julianna and I'll be happy to jump into that arena with her. So we'll see what happens," he went on to say.

It seems like "The Good Wife" season 7 is perfect for Alicia to get some loving. With her romance with Finn Polmar cut short and her relationship with her estranged husband not going so well, Alex, who Alicia hires to work in her new firm, could heat things up for the former State Attorney.

"The Good Wife" season 7 will premiere October 4. Aside from Morgan, Margo Martindale also joins the cast as a sly campaign operative named Willa Eastman.
