"The Good Wife" will soon be saying goodbye as network CBS has announced on Super Bowl Sunday that the show's current season, season 7, will be its last.

The award-winning series starring Julianna Margulies will have nine more episodes before its finale on May 8. Spoilers for the finale episode have already been released.

The title for the last episode is "End," as announced by showrunners Michelle and Robert King on Twitter. The Kings also teased what the finale will be about. One thing they highlighted is that there won't be a time jump to wrap things up. Instead, the showrunners will explore more of Alicia's (Margulies) personal life and her career.

There will also be a comeback for some of the characters in the previous seasons. "We want to see where some of these characters ended up and landed," Robert explained to TVLine.

So will "The Good Wife's" finale feature a happy ending? Michelle only teased that the "ending is surprising and inevitable at the same time."

"The Good Wife's" finale does not indicate that the show didn't do well in the ratings; the Kings already established that the plan is to have the show for only seven seasons. "We wanted the story to have a beginning, middle, and an end — that's the only way actions can have real consequences," the Kings wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the news of the conclusion of the legal drama series only sparked some speculations about its spin-off, with Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Diane (Christine Baranski) as its lead stars.

It seems that that idea is a possibility, according to the Kings. At this point, nothing's off the table," Michelle said, according to a separate report from TVLine. "Sure, maybe, we're not saying no to anything."

Robert chimed in and said that it would be great to have a spin-off that stars a cast member who was not the focus of the original series. If a spin-off will indeed happen, then it's not totally the end for "The Good Wife."

"The Good Wife" airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
