The Disney superhero family hit movie "The Incredibles" is finally getting a sequel after more than a decade. However, fans of the Parr family may need to wait longer as the movie is set to be released in 2019.

The sequel to the Disney Pixar film was announced back in April of last year by Disney CEO Robert A. Iger. Not much is known about the movie, except that Brad Bird, who penned and directed the original flick, will be working on the new script, according to IMDB.

How the story of "Incredibles 2" will turn out remains to be seen, but Bird hinted that the animated flick will not be something that should be compared to other superhero movies as it has a unique vibe to it.

"For me, the interesting thing was never the superhero part of it. It was more the family dynamic, and how do superhero things play into that," Bird told CinemaBlend.

Apart from what Bird revealed, nothing else about the movie was shared. However, speculations are rife when it comes to the sequel's plot.

According to Wikia, the story will pick up five years after the original movie ended and the world is now safe from threats because superheroes are back at work once again.

The Parr family continues to fight crime, but patriarch Bob and matriarch Helen are said to focus on raising their now six-year-old son Jack Jack.

The spoilers page described Jack-Jack as a rebel who needs to learn how to control his powers. Meanwhile, some unknown villain has been watching the budding superhero and takes him away to make him an apprentice.

Reports then suggest that Jack-Jack will be "The Incredibles 2's" big bad. Then again, both Pixar and Disney have yet to comment on the authenticity of the plot.

"The Incredibles 2" will be released on June 21, 2019. This family superhero animated movie will be released the same year as other Disney Pixar films including "Finding Dory," "Toy Story 4," and "Cars 3."
