The wait for "The Incredibles 2" just got a bit shorter than it was before as Disney decided to move its release date to a much earlier date.

Disney swapped the release schedule of the long-awaited film sequel with "Toy Story 4," which was initially set June 15, 2018. "The Incredibles 2" was set June 21, 2019.

Thanks to the accelerated production schedule for "The Incredibles 2," the film will now take the release schedule of "Toy Story 4," which means that it will be released a year earlier.

The first movie was released in 2004. While the idea of waiting for 15 years for the sequel is quite daunting for fans of the adorable Parr family, it is still much better if a year is cut off the waiting game.

From the looks of it, production is well underway, and "The Incredibles 2" might actually be complete earlier than schedule.

Back in March 2014, Disney CEO and Chairman Bob Iger confirmed that the film was in development, with Brad Bird, who directed and wrote the first film, returning.

A year later, Bird confirmed that he has begun working on the script. By August 2015, a logo for the film debuted at the D23 Expo followed by the announcement of Michael Giacchino's return as composer.

As for the plot for "The Incredibles 2," Bird does not give away too much. The last time he spoke about the film was back in August, where he gave a morsel of an update on the development.

"It's very actively moving, and we're excited about it "[We're] trying to take it in some new directions," Bird told Entertainment Weekly.

"Hopefully it's the same characters and feel, but going in a new direction. I mean, that's the trick with a sequel. It's repeating yourself, without repeating yourself," he went on to say.

He also hinted that "The Incredibles 2" will not focus on the powers, but how the characters react to them. Rumor has it that either Jack-Jack or Dash will turn out to be the villain in the sequel.
