Despite the unveiling of a new trailer during the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2016, Sony Interactive will have to push back the release of "The Last Guardian" until December this year.

SIE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida made the delay announcement through a post on the PlayStation US blog where he discussed the latest update about the long-awaited action-adventure video game. According to Yoshida, they had to make the difficult decision to delay the game's release for several weeks more to polish the game.

"A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game's creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues," Yoshida wrote.

The SIE Worldwide Studios president also mentioned that they are continuously pushing themselves to the limit in order to come up with a new content that they could reveal before the game's launch.

"The Last Guardian" was first announced during the 2009 E3 event where it was said to have a 2011 release date for the PlayStation 3 console. It was reintroduced during the 2015 E3, saying that the game's release date will have to be pushed back to 2015. But instead of releasing the game on Oct. 25, players must have to wait until Dec. 6 to get hold of the game.

While waiting for the game's official release, a 45-minute demo made its debut during the TGS 2016. The events in the new demo took off after the demo that was played during this year's E3. It featured the playable character and the griffin called Trico as they find their way inside an abandoned building while dealing with numerous puzzles along the way.

The trailer revealed that Trico could respond whenever the player calls him or points him towards a certain object, but his obedience is only limited to that. This means that the game developer has yet to reveal how Trico and the game's protagonist will be able to help each other out during all the challenges that they will face together.

More details about "The Last Guardian" are expected to be revealed prior to the game's release.
