The director of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," Rian Johnson recently revealed all his ideas about who Rey's parents are amid speculations, criticism and reviews.

There has been much discussion about the "The Last Jedi," and the plot that follows for the rest of the trilogy. Director Rian Johnson clears up speculations by fans about Rey's parents, and sadly, does confirm that they are "nobodies." They are just regular humans who abandoned their child on an alien planet to be an orphan.

In a recent interview on The /Filmcast, the acclaimed writer and director revealed all the ideas he had for Rey's parents, and his reasons for deciding to make them normal people. "'I am your father' takes what could have been a very simple bad guy and suddenly turns him into something much more complicated. To do that with Rey, to give the audience and Rey that feeling of 'Oh no,' it had to be the opposite of that," Johnson says.

Johnson shared he had explored all the possible options and all the questions viewers may have had before making a final decision. The decisions were based on what the most powerful turn of events would be to answer those questions. According to Johnson, he had a "big a** document" with all the information and routes the story could take, such as Rey's origins.

"Is she a Skywalker?" "Is she a Solo?" Johnson claimed to have explored these questions along with some outright silly possibilities such as Rey being a robot or a clone. Johnson went on to explain how they are trying to step back from the trope of the "chosen ones" such as the Skywalkers and the Solos the Lucas version so loved. Johnson stated that Rey is on a journey to find her place in the universe, and anyone can be a hero.

There it is folks. No Skywalkers here, no Solos, just regular humans and "average Joes." It remains to be seen how the rest of the trilogy unfolds, and how J.J. Abrams will choose to end it.
