Sony had a special treat for participants at this week's Paris Games Week 2017. A bunch of new trailers for the upcoming titles were shown. However, the most shocking part of the gathering was the new preview for Naughty Dog's much-awaited sequel, "The Last of Us 2." The trailer featured some brutal scenes that can be expected from a post-apocalyptic survival video game. However, some people thought that the footage that was shown had too much gore.

As reported by Polygon, the latest trailer for "The Last of Us 2" has a lot of horrific images, from people being hanged to some getting shot by arrows right in their faces. Perhaps the bloodbath fest featured by the trailer is what makes fans more excited for the sequel, given that the cinematic presentation of the mutilation sequences was impressive. Yet, some participants of Paris Games Week 2017 were quite turned off by the preview.

Sony has received criticisms following the latest "The Last of Us 2" preview at the Paris Games Week, arguing that such a violent trailer was not suitable for the event. As a response, Sony PlayStation executive Jim Ryan said in an interview with The Telegraph that "The Last of Us 2" is an adult video game, thus the brutality featured in the trailer made sense.

"I should never prejudge this but it will probably be rated 18, I think it's fair to say," Ryan stated. "And there's that market for those people who like that sort of game. Adults who like that sort of game. And I think we cater for that."

Ryan also said that showing the new trailer for "The Last of Us 2" to end the Paris Games Week was a great move, considering the huge anticipation among fans. After the preview, there were no details disclosed regarding the game's release date. Nevertheless, a new trailer would be enough to sustain fans' excitement, given that the last trailer was released back in December 2016 at the PlayStation Experience.

For now, it is expected that "The Last of Us 2" will arrive sometime in 2018. The sequel will bring back the original game's main characters, Joel and an adult Ellie.
