While Naughty Dog has hinted that the much-awaited "The Last of Us 2" will be featured at the upcoming E3 2016, happening this month, there are still scant details on what the next game will be like. Speculations say that the sequel will focus on Ellie's story and her immunity will play a central role.

According to Daily Star, a recent Easter egg may give a hint at what the "The Last of Us 2" sequel will be about. Apparently, in the epilogue of the recently released "Uncharted 4," an image is shown, with the poster saying "The Last of Us" with a tagline, "American Daughters." While this may just be a coincidence, the industry observer says that there is high chance that this is already a teaser by Naughty Dog, the studio behind both the "Uncharted" series and the original "The Last of Us" game.

Yibada believes that based on fan feedback, "The Last of Us 2" may take place years after the events in the original game, and that Ellie, as a survivor of the original title, will play a central part in the story. A continuation from the "infamous" finale is already expected by fans. Since Ellie has immunity from the virus that plagues the victims in the original title, "The Last of Us 2" may possibly deal with the main character's journey towards looking for a cure.

Meanwhile, since Naughty Dog is silent on the sequel, fans expect the developer to announce details on its next project at the upcoming 2016 E3 trade show. While the studio has yet to come out with detailed plans for its presentation, observers are saying that an announcement for "The Last of Us 2" will have a big impact on fans, given that another major franchise project, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," is already finished.
