Developer Naughty Dog is said to be working on "The Last of Us 2," which has been pushed back because of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End." Fans are now expecting to hear more information about the game at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, happening next month.

Christian Daily reported that game fans are now expecting that the developer will now be focused on the development of "The Last of Us 2." The survival game sequel has been in the rumor mill ever since voice actor Nolan North unintentionally mentioned it almost a year ago. North was the voice behind the character Nathan Drake in the 'Uncharted" game series.

There are several rumors surrounding the plot of the upcoming game. According to Movie Pilot, Ellie, the young girl in the first game, will be the main character and this is based on a poster or an Easter egg found in the "Uncharted 4" game. The poster shows a pregnant woman wearing a gas mask, carrying a backpack, and holding a gun in her left hand, and it is believed that the person is non-other than Ellie. The poster also shows what seems to be a title, though partially hidden, "The Last of Us: American Daughters," which is also rumored to be the title of the upcoming game.

Gamers' keen eyes caught the revolver that the alleged Ellie is holding. Many have noticed that it looks similar to the gun used by Joel, the main character in the first game, and interprets it as a "passing the torch" to the younger generation, as Ecumenical News stated.

The sequel is also rumored to revolve around another character, but still in the same period of the first game.

Fans are speculating that "The Last of Us 2" will be released sometime in 2018.
