Naughty Dog shocked the participants of Sony's Paris Game Week earlier this month with the latest trailer of "The Last of Us 2." Die-hard fans have been demanding to see a fresh teaser for the game sequel, although the video itself might have spilled too much brutality, thus getting negative feedback from some people. Putting the gore and bloodshed aside, the trailer reveals a mysterious buff woman about to be killed by her own group. Given her resemblance with the game's main protagonist, Ellie, fans are quick to assume that the mysterious woman is none other than Anna.

The latest trailer for "The Last of Us 2" do not have any scenes involving Ellie and Joel, the central characters of the first game. However, some fans thought the mysterious lady from the trailer, who seems to be a soldier due to her muscular appearance, is actually Ellie. It was Naughty Dog's sound designer Robert Krekel who went on the fans' Twitter discussion to state that the mysterious woman is not Ellie. With this, the suspicion now is that the soldier lady could be Anna, the mother of Ellie who died after giving birth.

Based on that particular scene when the mysterious woman is about to get killed, it is rumored that she is actually pregnant. According to Cinema Blend, the group, or cult which the woman is a part of, believes that being pregnant is an unforgivable sin. An older woman can be seen in the video preparing to disembowel the mysterious woman with a knife, saying that her guts are "nested with sin."

The voice actress of the mysterious woman in "The Last of Us 2" trailer is revealed to be Laura Bailey, yet Naughty Dog strangely omitted the name of the character. Interestingly, the character's name was left with four blank spaces, and it is no-brainer for the fans to assume that these blanks would spell out "Anna." The studio's decision to not reveal Bailey's role in "The Last of Us 2" suggests that her character will play an important part in the storyline.

As for the release date of "The Last of Us 2," it is more likely that the game will not launch until late 2018 due to ongoing production. It is also possible that the sequel will be finished by mid-2019.
