'The Last of Us 2' rumors: Game's progress might have been affected by 'Uncharted 4'

"The Last of Us 2" curiously remains unconfirmed, and "Uncharted 4" might have had something to do with that.

For those who might not have been aware, both "Uncharted 4" and "The Last of Us" were made by the same developer, which would be Naughty Dog.

As it turns out, having the same developer responsible for two eagerly anticipated titles might not be the best thing for speeding things along as it relates to the launch of both games.

In an interview with the PlayStation magazine that was also reported on by Games Radar+, "The Last of Us" creative director Neil Druckmann revealed some pretty interesting details about how "Uncharted 4" might have had an impact on the development of "The Last of Us 2."

According to Druckmann, both he and director Bruce Straley were already talking about potential ideas for "The Last of Us 2" prior to them being asked to work on "Uncharted 4." Druckmann even indicated that they had come up with some prototypes for "The Last of Us 2" and had already begun work on those when they were then asked to shift their focus to "Uncharted 4."

Even the team that was working on those "Last of Us 2" prototypes had to focus more on "Uncharted 4."

Druckmann's comments would seem to indicate that "The Last of Us 2" will become a reality eventually, just not as soon as fans might have hoped.

There have also been rumors suggesting a variety of changes for "The Last of Us 2," including the possibility that the game might feature more possible endings, according to Movie News Guide.

The addition of more alternate endings would reportedly necessitate "The Last of Us 2" to also adopt more distinct role-playing game (RPG) elements, so that could mean more widespread changes for the sequel as well.

As of now, "The Last of Us 2" remains in limbo, but there is hope that more news about the sequel could come out this year.
