The wait for "The Last of Us Part 2" may still take a while, but speculations about the game are still prevalent online.

Details about the game are still under wraps, but game director Neil Druckmann shared several snippets about the game's development on Twitter.

In April, the game director shared a photo of actress Shannon Woodward taken during the shoot of the upcoming survival horror video game. It showcases the "Westworld" actress playing with a machete with ease.

In early April, "Westworld" actress Shannon Woodward announced through Twitter that she has been tapped to join the cast of the soon-to-be released game. However, her role remains a mystery until now.

Woodward will join "Blindspot" actress Ashley Johnson. She will reprise her role as Ellie, one of the characters from the 2013-released "The Last of Us" game alongside Troy Baker's playable character Joel. But in the upcoming sequel, Ellie will become the main character of the game.

Druckmann also shared a photo of his co-writer Halley Gross who is sitting on top of a makeshift horse while holding a shotgun.

The story details of the upcoming "The Last of Us 2" action-adventure game remain under wraps.

Meanwhile, speculations claim that Ellie might be the game's new Punisher and she will kill all the Fireflies in the upcoming game. This could mean that something happened along the way that made Ellie fuming mad at their enemies.

Druckmann first announced the development of "The Last of Us 2" in a press release on PlayStation Blog in December 2016. The game director also explained the reason why they decided to come up with a sequel to their highly successful game.

"Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of 'The Last of Us' and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn't the case, Druckmann stated. "We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie."

Naughty Dog has yet to announce the official release date of "The Last of Us 2."
