Naughty Dog has provided a few promotional images and teaser videos for the much-awaited video game "The Last of Us Part 2" ("TLOU2"). However, the studio has yet to confirm the game's release date, although recent reports suggest that the sequel to 2013's hit post-apocalyptic thriller title will be out sooner than everyone else is expecting. A leaked game listing from a Sony Facebook page shows that "TLOU2" will arrive in PlayStation 4 (PS4) this 2018.

As reported by NDTV, a recent post on Facebook page of Sony Sweden reveals that "The Last of Us Part 2" will be released sometime this year. The sequel is said to be launched alongside developer Sucker Punch's "Ghost of Tsushima." While the latter is already expected to arrive in 2018, many fans are surprised to see that "The Last of Us Part 2" might make it to a 2018 release. Also, previous reports suggested that the game sequel could be out at a later date, given that the title is still under development.

Nevertheless, the fans should take this information with a grain of salt as Sony Sweden might have only listed a 2018 release date for "The Last of Us Part 2" as a placeholder. Likewise, Sony already has a record of getting the actual release dates of upcoming game titles wrong. For one, Sony initially posted a March 2018 release date for "God of War," which was eventually changed to April 20 on the PlayStation Store listing.

Whether "The Last of Us Part 2" will be out in 2018 or not, this increases the chance that Naughty Dog will reveal big details at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 in June. Although, it is not likely that "TLOU2" will be launched near the release date of Rockstar Games' "Red Dead Redemption 2" ("RDR2"). Sony has also made a marketing deal with Rockstar for "RDR2," and it would not want other big titles such as "The Last of Us Part 2" to take away its spotlight this year.

Meanwhile, it was rumored that "The Last of Us Part 2" will feature dogs in the actual gameplay, following game director Neil Druckmann's latest tweet with a photo of his canine companion. His Twitter post has no indication that dogs will actually be a part of the game, but the fans are quick to conclude that Druckmann has posted the photo as a teaser for "TLOU2."
