Last Sunday, "The Leftovers" aired its second season finale which saw Kevin (Justin Theroux) reunited with his loved ones after he was resurrected.

The hour saw John shooting Kevin as John thought that Kevin had something to do with Evie's disappearance. However, Kevin knew that Evie and her friends faked their disappearance, and it was revealed that they have been recruited by Meg to join the Guilty Remnant.

Evie and the girls emerged from the trailer and revealed themselves to the townspeople, and the girls refused to move as they said that there was going to be an explosion, but after the one-hour countdown, there was no explosion and members of the Guilty Remnant stormed the bridge and began to cause chaos in Miracle.

Kevin wakes up and finds out that the bullet went through him. When he got home, he found out that not only were Nora and Jill waiting for him, but his ex-wife Laura, his son Tommy, and Matt and Mary were also there.

Speaking with TVLine, co-creator Damon Lindelof talked about the decision to end things on a happy note in the season 2 finale, saying that Kevin's family coming together was "a reward" for Theroux's character.

"We just watched this guy suffer so intensely, what does he get in exchange for it? You've got to give him something," said Lindelof, adding that he couldn't think of anything better than Kevin coming back to find out that everyone he loves is alright.

When asked if HBO would renew the show for a third season, Lindelof said that he doesn't know when it will happen, but HBO "loves the show."

"My hope is that the finale is well received, and that there is a good feeling about the season that extends into the first couple weeks of December. And then we can ride that wave into a pickup," said the co-creator.

Lindelof urged fans to make themselves heard as they hope for a pickup.

"I will say this: if you are a fan of 'The Leftovers,' you should let your voice be heard," he said.
