The excitement continues to build up as filming continues for the third and final season of HBO's "The Leftovers" in Australia.

Recently, actress Carrie Coon shared the first still photo of the third season of the series via her Twitter account. Then The Hollywood Reporter visited the set of the critically acclaimed existential drama on location in Texas to capture a few behind-the-scenes images of the show before they moved to the Land Down Under to finish the production for season 3.

In one of the scenes, Coon was photographed with co-star Jovan Adepo as their character Nora and Michael celebrate someone's birthday next season.

When asked about her thoughts regarding the premise of the show, the Critics' Choice Best Actress awardee revealed that the power of the show lies in how the characters reveal their true emotions despite the supernatural setting.

"That's where the power of the show is. It's not sci-fi; it's about people trying to understand how they're going to continue to put one foot in front of the other," the actress said.

But prior to the start of the production of "The Leftovers" season 3, the cast was left in the dark regarding the fate of their roles in the final season of the series.

Speaking with Awards Daily, actress Liv Tyler admitted that she had no idea where the writers would take her character, Meg, in the upcoming season.

"I did a little bit of filming, I have a very vague idea of something that might happen, but really I don't know because they are still writing it," the actress shared. "They have a whole outline and then over the course of a certain amount of months, I think the amount of work and dedication and focus that Damon [Lindelof] and Tom Perrotta and the team of writers have put into this is really super intense, quite extraordinary the level of writing they are doing."

HBO has yet to announce the premiere date of "The Leftovers" season 3.
