When Nintendo discovered "several new possibilities" for "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U, it decided to not release the highly-anticipated game this year. It was poised to be one of the biggest Nintendo titles to be unveiled in 2015 but it's unlikely to happen as Nintendo has listed the game as "TBD" or "to be determined."

The game's status undoubtedly worries the hardcore fans of Link's adventures. Although this could mean anything, there's that lingering fear that "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U would take longer to arrive. However, this is not always the case. It could simply be that the developer does not wish to commit to a specific release date, which would only pressure the game studio to release the game because they have to, even if it's not 100 percent ready.

The newest iteration of the extremely popular action-adventure video game is a very big deal for its maker and for fans of the mega successful franchise. The initial delay suggests that Nintendo is doing everything they can to make it the stellar title it should be. The game, of course, is expected to be a massive installment when the company deems it ready to be released.

Nintendo is a very busy game machine and while "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U is not on its 2015 or 2016 list, it has a lot of cool new games set to come out this year. There's "Splatoon," "Mario Maker" and "Xenoblade Chronicles X," just to name a few.

It also has some announcements to make at the Los Angeles Convention Center during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo and is also hard at work with bringing its franchises to smartphones after a deal with DeNA. Lastly, Nintendo is reportedly developing a new platform codenamed NX.

In the midst of all that, fans are hoping that the company would surprise the gaming world with the release of "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U.
