Fans are still waiting for an update to the much-anticipated release of "The Legend of Zelda" on Wii U, with some anticipating a specific release window for the upcoming title.

However, some industry observers note that fans may need to wait a little bit longer as "The Legend of Zelda" for Nintendo's current-gen Wii U may take a backseat and that the delay may be due to an entirely new design and graphics style.

According to DesignNTrend, back at Nintendo's presentation at this year's E3 convention, Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aimé was quoted as saying that the company originally intended to showcase a new "The Legend of Zelda" game for Wii U during the event via trailer footages. However, since Nintendo only had games that will be released for this year as their main focus for the 2015 E3, the "The Legend of Zelda" presentation was scrapped.

The website mentioned that although the game was not supposed to release this year, it wouldn't hurt Nintendo to showcase footage of the game to waiting fans. The industry follower then surmised that Nintendo might have scrapped the footage presentation because the video itself was no longer relevant, being made of earlier design developments.

Meanwhile, according to another industry follower, HMK, the "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U being delayed has many factors in play, chief among them the change in graphics. HMK argued that with Nintendo also pushing for a new console system in NX, the company might be upgrading "The Legend of Zelda" to be played both on Wii U and the upcoming Nintendo console.

However, since Nintendo is keeping mum about the delay issue, or on any subject that touches on a new "The Legend of Zelda" game for that matter, the rumors remain just that – speculations from many industry followers and fans who are waiting anxiously for the title.
