Nintendo has confirmed that the new "The Legend of Zelda" game will be released simultaneously for the Wii U and the upcoming Nintendo NX. While the industry giant has yet to confirm a specific release date, it is said that the next "The Legend of Zelda" will be released in early 2017.

Although fans are excited about the new NX system and how "The Legend of Zelda" will perform on it, Nintendo will first focus all its resources on the Wii U version of the title. According to Polygon, the company is said to reveal that its 2016 E3 appearance will be dedicated to "The Legend of Zelda" for the Wii U.

The industry observer added that Nintendo will even make changes in its presentation. Instead of having a Nintendo Direct-style showcase, announcing details in its entire lineup, Nintendo will be highlighting the upcoming "Zelda" game. This includes a dedicated "Nintendo Treehouse Live" event, as well as a day-long demo of the Wii U version. The presentation will also be live-streamed on the official Nintendo websites for the event.

Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda" for the Wii U presentation will be on June 14 at 9 a.m. PT.

This is welcome news to hardcore fans of the franchise, who have been waiting long for confirmed details on the upcoming title. Nintendo did not give out any details on the game at last year's E3, and the last time that the Wii U version of "The Legend of Zelda" appeared in public was back in December 2014, during The Game Awards.

Meanwhile, although fans will not have that long to wait to see the Wii U version, speculations on what the new game will be have already started circulating. According to Trusted Reviews, one of the most noted features that were shown in previous teasers and gameplay demoes was Link traveling with Epona once more.
