'The Legend of Zelda' Wii U release date: Game to launch simultaneously with Nintendo NX

Nintendo has been silent regarding the release date of "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U but according to a new report from Gematsu, this may be because the game is planned to launch by the end of the year, just in time for the holidays, and that it may release alongside Nintendo's new console, the NX.

According to the report, the information was leaked via a NeoGAF post, although the validity of this post has yet to be determined. The original post states that the information has been confirmed from an inside source at Nintendo although NIntendo itself has not made any comments regarding the leaked information.

The leak states that the new game is set to launch by the holidays and that it might not just be for the Wii U. As many speculated, the game may see a version on the Nintendo NX as well, similar to how "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" launched for both the Gamecube and the Wii.

It is also explained that Nintendo's current allotted marketing budget for Wii U is at $34 million and that a whole $10 million of that total is dedicated solely to marketing "The Legend of Zelda" Wii U, although it is postulated that a good chunk of this amount may be shifted to focus on the NX version of the game instead.

However, it is unclear at this point if the Wii U version of the game will come out a few days prior in order to give it some attention before finally launching the NX version alongside the Nintendo NX, presumably as a bundled game for those who grab the console during the holiday shopping season.

As stated by Gematsu, the other informationed leaked in the post is related to Nintendo's budget and release window for their New 3DS titles such as the recently announced "Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun" and the 3DS port of "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King."
