In the next episode of "The Magicians," Kady (Jade Tailor) and Julia (Stella Maeve) explore new ways to heal Penny (Arjun Gupta).

The trailers and promotional photos of the upcoming installment, which is titled "The Losses of Magic," were released just recently, and they show Kady and Julia in a room performing some kind of spell in order to heal their good friend Penny.

Lighted candles are placed on the floor as the two magicians perform hand motions and finger signs. They also do some footwork to facilitate the spell in a strange coordinated dance. They finally look at each other eye-to-eye and focus their hands on each other. Apparently, this is one way which may help facilitate Penny's healing.

In the meantime, Quentin (Jason Ralph) visits Penny and brings along a healer. Julia is there too along with Quentin, and they watch Penny rest in bed. They try to convince the wounded magician if the healer can perform an operation on him. Julia tells him not to worry because it will be magical in nature, and nothing will be cut up in the process.

Apparently, the healer is going to penetrate his stomach with his fingers, but there will be no pain or blood involved. Penny agrees and the mystical doctor starts the operation. He pierces his stomach with his fingers, but then, Penny lets out a terrifying scream.

In the last episode, Quentin, Kady, and Julia went after Mayakovsky (Bryan F. O'Byrne) and his battery, which could help bring magic back to the realm. However, Kady stole it, and she brought the device back to Penny in order to save him. Quentin was furious upon learning what she did.

"The Magicians" season 3 episode 3 will hit the small screens on Wednesday, Jan 24, at 9 p.m. EST on the Syfy channel.
