The remake of "The Magnificent Seven" is gaining a lot of steam as Deadline reports that actors Jason Momoa and Byung-Hun Lee are currently in negotiations to star in the film. Lee will reportedly portray the character Billy Rocks while Momoa is set to play one of the film's villainous bandits.

"The Magnificent Seven" is a remake of the classic 1960 Western film, itself a remake of the 1954 Akira Kurosawa film "Seven Samurai." The film is being directed by Antoine Fuqua, popular for helming "Training Day," "Olympus Has Fallen" and "The Equalizer." 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee's character Billy Rocks might be a new spin on the character "Harry Luck," played by Brad Dexter in the original film. The report states that Billy Rocks is an indentured servant that is skilled with a sai. 

Lee previously portrayed the ninja Storm Shadow in both "G.I. Joe" films and the T-1000 in the upcoming "Terminator Genisys." 

Momoa's character hasn't been named but it is speculated that either he or Vincent D'Onofrio might be portraying the main villain, Calvera, previously played by Eli Wallach.  

Momoa famously played the Dothraki leader Khal Drogo in season 1 of "Game of Thrones" and also portrayed Conan in the 2011 "Conan the Barbarian." He starred opposite Sylvester Stallone in "Bullet to the Head" and will appear in the DC Cinematic Universe as Aquaman, opposite Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill as Superman. 

"The Magnificent Seven" also stars Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Chris Pratt, Wagner Moura, and Haley Bennett. 

The film will mostly be based on the 1960 original but with a few changes. The remake will be set right after the American Civil War. A group of bandits attack a small village, raiding them of food and money. In their desperation, the villagers hire seven mercenaries to help them fight back.
