In the next episode of "The Mayor," newly-elected mayor Courtney Rose (Brandon Michael Hall) helps to provide his old elementary school's music program with funding.

The trailer for the upcoming installment titled "The Filibuster" was just released recently and showed Courtney going around town taking a victory lap after winning the mayoral race. Along the way, however, he finds out that his old school may lose its music program. He therefore decides to help them out by working the system to provide them the needed funding.

The stakes are heightened when a kid from the school tells a reporter that Mayor Rose has plans for a music center. "We are going to name it after someone we all love," Courtney tells the school crowd. Then the same young girl blurts out if it's the famous artist Chance the Rapper. Courtney just replies, "We will figure that out later."

In the meantime, Courtney's mom Dina (Yvette Nicole Brown) pushes T.K. Clifton (Marcel Spears) to take his position as Director of Constituent Services more seriously.

In the last episode, Courtney ran for mayor as a publicity stunt to get people to listen to his music and buy his CDs. He even debated the mayoral competitor Ed Gunt (David Spade) in a public forum in front of a noisy audience. He was able to charm the crowd and constituents who later voted for him. Courtney ended up winning the election to his surprise and dismay.

Apparently, he did not think that he would win the election and was not prepared to take the position. He even wanted to step down immediately. However, Dina convinced him to look at it as a blessing and an opportunity to help people in their struggling community.

"The Mayor" season 1 episode 2 will air on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 9:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
