'The Mentalist' season 7 spoilers: Simon Baker to direct again, 13 episodes ordered
CBS has made the announcement that "The Mentalist" Season 7 will be the final season for the show. Fans, cast and crew of the show have been hoping for a renewal and they got it. CBS gave "The Mentalist" 13 episodes to wrap up the show.
Tim Kang, who plays Kimball Cho, was the first to tell the show's fans that Season 7 will be the final season and that there will be 13 episodes. He took to Twitter to share: "This is our 7th and final season. Looking at the scripts now, it's so fun and such a great season!"
Kang also made a follow-up tweet, now thanking the fans and his colleagues. "All y'all are the best fans and friends we could have!! I gotta say it makes doing what we do, that much more satisfying."
While it is sad news for the avid fans of the show, some would like to think of it as another chance to make the fans happy. This is the chance to end the series properly, giving each character their proper endings.
In a Hollywood Reporter report, series creator Bruno Heller described the last season as an "encore." What did he meant exactly? He said "[it's] to get people leaving the theater happy and giving them what they want and hitting your marks as strong as possible." Thus, fans can be assured that the final season is tailor-made to make the fans happy.
In related news, cast Simon Baker is said to take on a directional role once again in "The Mentalist" Season 7, according to Enstars. Baker has directed four episodes in the past, namely: "Red Moon," "Blinking Red Light," "Red Sails in the Sunset" and "My Blue Heaven." Reports point to an episode in the upcoming season titled "The Silver Briefcase" as the one that Baker will helm.
"The Mentalist" Season 7 will return in January 2015.
