The cancellation of "The Mentalist" isn't a big surprise as many people have speculated that season 7 will be the final season. Even cast member Tim Kang said that season 7 will be the last. But all those speculations have been finally confirmed when CBS made the announcement about the TV shows it's going to axe.

Although the cancellation is not a huge shocker, this doesn't mean that everyone is happy about it. Fans of "The Mentalist" are saddened with CBS's decision, but also appreciate that the show has been given 13 episodes to wrap the story up properly.

Further, CBS is also considering the feelings of the fan base of the show. So, the network has decided to air the seventh season of "The Mentalist" sooner than expected. It will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 9 p.m. This will be a temporary time slot until "The Good Wife" returns on Jan. 4. By then, five episodes would have been shown.  The remaining episodes will then air every Wednesday at 8 p.m. The final episode will be on Feb. 18 and it will be a two-hour series finale.

Is there a possibility for "The Mentalist" to continue in other networks? Of course, there is always the possibility, especially since the crime show is easy to transfer, says Entertainment Weekly. However, there's still no news about whether there are networks willing to take the show already. First, the last season hasn't aired yet. And second, networks would like to see the last season's ratings first before picking it up.

According to US Weekly, TNT is currently airing reruns of "The Mentalist," which means that the network is already a good bet for being the next home of Patrick Jane and the gang. There are still two months to go to see how season 7 will fair and whether it is still worth it to continue the story or to just let it go.
