A dangerous foe will hunt down the Mikaelesons when the hit The CW series "The Original" returns for its midseason premiere in January.
According to TV Line, Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and Freya (Riley Voelkel) will have to be very careful for 2016, as a "callous, smart and manipulative" vampire will arrive in town to take them down. Described as a predator with little regard for human life, Cortez will reportedly pose as a new threat to the Originals. During the first half of season, the siblings have already been busy keeping the avenging progenies at bay. Aurora (Rebecca Breeds), Tristan (Oliver Ackland), and Lucien (Andrew Lees) have all made it their existence's mission to cause trouble for the Mikaelsons. With the arrival of Cortez, the siblings have to be very vigilant, indeed.
Meanwhile, the promo for episode 10, titled "Ghost of the Mississippi" shows Klaus intent on making his ex-girlfriend Aurora pay for what she did. During the midseason finale, Klaus woke up with a dead Cami (Leah Pipes) at his feet. Aurora had slashed her throat and left her for dead. Cami was lying in a pool of blood when the hybrid saw her, and to say he was livid was an understatement. In the promo, he can be seen furiously telling Elijah that the attacks against them must be answered in the swiftest manner possible.
Pipes has already said her goodbyes with the death of her character on her Twitter account @leahmariepipes. "The Originals" fans, however, will be glad to learn that executive producer Julie Plec teased in an interview with Variety that they will still see Cami on the screen once more. It remains a secret, though, how she will return from the dead. Plec wouldn't reveal anything about the plot twist, saying viewers must tune in to the second half of season 3 to find out.
"The question is what context we'll see her again and just how tragic that will be," she shared.
"The Originals" season 3 episode 10 will air on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
