The third season of "The Originals" just ended last month, leaving fans wondering about the fate of the Mikaelsons, the family of the main characters of the TV series, who fell from grace during the show's last episode.

The Inquisitr reported that the show's lead character Klaus Mikaelson, portrayed by Joseph Morgan, will definitely make a comeback in the fourth season of "The Originals."

Some viewers thought it was the end of the line for the half-vampire, half-werewolf character after he was suffered a pain-induced coma and was enclosed in a tomb by the end of the third season.

What will happen to Klaus? In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Michael Narducci raised the possibility that Klaus will not be the reformed character that he was during the past episodes.

Narducci even mentioned that Klaus may go back to his monstrous self after his sacrifice in Season 3.

"Now he's going to be suffering unendurable agony for who knows how long, and when we see him again, will that choice to be selfless, which resulted in so much pain and agony and solitude — the thing that he fears most — will that actually make him even more of a monster? And remember, he won't have Cami to help him. That's going to be one of the great things to play," the showrunner said.

"I'm not saying that we're going to see Klaus backslide to his most terrible version, but I'm saying that threat exists, and I'm very curious to see who Klaus will be when we see him again," he added.

In a separate interview with TV Guide, Narducci also revealed that "The Originals" Season 4 will not start at the same point where Season 3 ended.

"We are going to have a little bit of a time jump in between when the story ends at the end of the finale and when we pick up in Season 4. That experience in the time jump will be similar to what the audience is feeling. To me, in a way, it actually makes sense," he said.
