With more than a month left before the season 5 of "The Originals" air, fans are wondering what will happen in the upcoming season. This article is a compilation of all the spoilers and plot news circulating the Internet.

Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) will be the focus of the fifth season, particularly, the years where he had lost his memories. Apparently, his amnesia erased him of his understanding of who he is and what he is. Elijah will be meeting a beautiful, old-school vampire named Antoinette (Jaime Murray) after he lost his memories. She is said to have a free-spirited disposition which she uses to hide secrets from her past. She will be introduced in the third episode of season 5.

Since Elijah and Hayley Marshall-Kenner (Phoebe Tonkin) ended their relationship in season 4, they will be both single for the upcoming season. Just like Elijah, Hayley will be meeting a new love interest named Declan (Torrance Coombs), a flirty Irish chef. Hayley will also be busy keeping peace within the supernaturals in New Orleans in the season.

Meanwhile, Elijah's brother, Klaus and his daughter, Hope have drifted apart. Klaus cut off all forms of communications with his daughter before the fifth season — which is something Hope will try to fix this upcoming season. Caroline Forbes (Candice King) will appear in the season, counseling Klaus on how to be a better parent to Hope. Meanwhile, Hope will catch the attention of Roman (Jedidah Goodacre), a charming vampire, after a mysterious incident in her school. Furthermore, another newcomer in the series will catch Hope's eyes this time — Landon, a poor yet compassionate human who is bullied by her richer classmates.

Aside from the newcomers mentioned above, the upcoming season will also feature a character named Greta Sienna (Nadine Lewington). She is a calculating modern vampire who is very devoted to her family. The fifth season will also feature a comeback of the dead characters Camille O'Connell (Leah Pipes) and Mikael (Sebastian Roché). It is still unclear if both will be resurrected or what roles will they be playing in the fifth season.

"The Originals" season 5 will premiere on April 20 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
