There is no denying that "The Purge" film franchise is one of the most successful horror movie chains of this generation -- armed with a fresh new take on the slasher, murder genre of the old, it quickly grew a steady stream of eyes ready to watch out for anything it has its name on it.

And luckily, for those who are dead-set fans of the franchise -- a TV series spin-off is said to be in the works, dropping sometime in 2019.

Just recently, news broke out detailing that the rumored TV spin-off has started production in New Orleans.

According to NOLA, the upcoming TV series, set in the fictional American regime where, once a year, any crime is legal, is currently preparing to shoot in locations inside New Orleans. They also noted that filming will start sometime in April.

The TV series, originally announced September of 2016, will focus not on "purge night" but on the days prior to the 12-hour, legal killing spree, said film producer Jason Blum.

In an interview with Den of Geek last October, Blum pointed out the many situations that could potentially happen in a society where, every year, a single day of crime is legal.

"We're working on kind of exploring what it's like to live the rest of the year in a world where you can kill someone on a certain day of the year."

"So we're definitely thinking about different things that might happen in a society where killing was legal 12 hours a year. There are a lot of things that you don't think about. You could commit a murder, and then somehow make it seem like it happened on Purge Night and get away with it. There are a lot of things that you can do with that idea, and we're trying to think of all those different situations in that world."

Besides confirmation on the series' window release and filming location, no other details have been announced. The cast of the TV spin-off is still kept in wraps; however, it is set for a release sometime this year.

"The Purge" movie franchise is currently in its fourth installment titled "The First Purge" -- a prequel to the previous films. It will focus on the dramatic turn of events that lead to the film series' primary dilemma -- purge night. It will hit theaters on July 4.

The three previous films include "The Purge," "The Purge: Anarchy," and "The Purge: Election Year." All these films follow the same premise -- primary characters defending and escaping from the onslaught of attacks coming from people who want to purge.
