The Queen sends her first Tweet

Elizabeth has sent her first ever tweet at the opening of a new science exhibition in London.

At age 88, she would be forgiven for eschewing modern technology, but the Monarch tweeted just after 11.30am this morning:

The official British Monarchy Twitter account immediately confirmed that the Queen herself had indeed sent the message.

And people are loving it; the reaction has been fantastic so far:
