The cast of the reality television show by VH1, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," has been through numerous cast changes over the years. Recently, it has been reported that singer, Monica Brown, has declined to be part of the television show, and has discussed the reasons in great detail.

In a report by People, the singer claimed that she cannot be away from her kids for too long. The 36-year-old mother of three stated that "Me being away from my children too long is non-negotiable." These words were uttered by Brown while she was at her sons' basketball practice. This is hard evidence that her priorities now are to be there for her children. However, she still finds the time and the energy to do what she does best — and that is performing.

According to BET, Brown is only interested in behind-the-scenes work, specifically as an executive producer. Given the editing process of the show, the cast members are not aware of what will be portrayed before the episodes air, which is a very big concern for Brown. In relation to this, Brown is very concerned of the image that she will have if she were to become part of it.

It is a known fact that the highly-dramatized nature of the show can easily affect not just her public image, but the perception of Brown's children towards her. For Brown, it is important that her children grow up knowing that their mom is a good person.

In other news, Brown is not the only celebrity who declined to be part of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." According to Celebrity Insider, Amiyah Scott and Keshia Knight Pulliam are among those who opted not to take the offer. Perhaps, it can be surmised that the highly-publicized dramatic life is not for everyone and these women chose to separate themselves from this kind of business.
