'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' news: Kyle Richard's husband opens up about home burglary
Mauricio Umansky, the husband of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kyle Richards, opens up about the recent burglary that took a million dollars worth of property from their Los Angeles home.
According to TMZ, which broke the news just a few days after Christmas, the burglar was able to take $1 million worth of jewelry from the family estate, including $150,000 worth of watches owned by the realtor.
The family was on vacation in Aspen, Colorado when the incident happened.
In a group of photos posted on Instagram a few days later, Umansky tried to take the burglary in stride by focusing on what matters most. "2017 Memories #family Nothing replaces Family. They can steal your belongings but they can't steal your memories or your love," he captioned.
His daughter Sophia has the same thing in mind, as she posts a photo of her holding her parents tight, with a caption saying "all that matters."
Richards and Umansky are the latest victims of celebrity break-ins, which was discovered by their housekeeper early morning of Dec. 28.
For some reason, the security system in place at the family home was not on at the time of the break-in, but police said it occurred at 1:15 a.m., as recorded in a closet sensor that was triggered by the thieves.
The Los Angeles Police Department is hopeful, however, that they will be able to find the burglars, thanks to the sheer number of surveillance cameras surrounding the house, which was once owned by Motown legend Smokey Robinson.
Their Encino home, which the couple bought back in October for $8.2 million, was undergoing renovations when the burglary happened.
In an interview with People in early December, during the premiere party for RHOBH season 8, Richards shared that the family is still in the process of moving in.
"It's taking forever," she said. "There's probably like 50 workmen in my house a day, so it doesn't feel like a home yet. It's a house still. So I'm waiting to make it my home."
