While it has been confirmed that the strigoi-themed "The Strain" is all set for its season 3 premiere on Aug. 28, not much is known on how the new episodes will continue on with the events of season 2. However, it is revealed that there are no prolonged time skips.

According to the trailer for the upcoming premiere, "The Strain" season 3 starts right off after the events in season 2, and will kick off just 23 days after last season's finale. The premiere is expected to be action-packed and explosive from the get-go, since the new episodes will focus on New York City being overridden by the quasi-vampires.

As child lead Max Charles (who plays Zach Goodweather) told TV Line, "At the beginning of Season 3, New York has fallen and the government has given up... That leaves the people of New York to fight to save themselves."

Meanwhile, fans can also expect that the vampire hunters will be able to put up strong resistance to the Master and his minions, since the previous season has shown that the humans have obtained "Occido Lumen," a book that supposedly tells the reader how to overcome the Master once and for all.

In addition, the dystopian drama's season 3 is already expected to be in high gear, with major events coming out right from episode 1, since the new season will be condensed into just 10 parts, three episodes shorter than the previous season. However, although the new season will be a short one, the story of the vampire hunters will continue on, as Cinema Blend mentions show creator Carlton Cuse stating that they are looking to tell the full story of the show for at least five seasons.

"The Strain" season 3 will premiere next month, with episode 1 airing on Aug. 28 at 10 p.m ET on FX.
