Role-playing game "The Surge" will take players to the amusement park with its latest downloadable content.

The major new expansion, called "A Walk in the Park," will feature battles in a derelict carnival, as seen in the striking pictures released by developer Deck13 Interactive.

Game developers call the new setting a "breath of fresh air," coming from the main battle stage — the high-tech CREO industrial complex — which is teeming with rogue machines and crazy exoskeleton workers. The theme park gives players a more open and vibrant environment to beat up their enemies, although Deck13 assures it is "no less deadly."

CREO World is the carnival once built for CREO employees and their families. But just like the rest of the world, it has been turned into a dilapidated pile of metals. No way anyone could take carousels here, but the adventure will be just like a roller coaster ride.

"The entire park is a deadly trap, where roaming rescue teams have gone insane and robotic mascots patrol freely, patiently waiting for new visitors to offer a deadly welcome," according to the official announcement.

The DLC aims to enrich the experience of the original game with a load of fresh challenges. Players will enjoy discovering the park's many secrets across the complex's many branching paths. Their mission is to survive the raging mascots and ultimately battle the park's "fearsome boss."

The expansion comes with 16 all-new cutting weapons, sets of armor, and implants to aid the players through technical and spectacular fights.

When "The Surge" was launched back in May, Polygon called it "the biggest surprise" of 2017. With this new expansion, it looks like the dystopian game is out to astonish its players once more.

This major expansion comes to "The Surge" in December, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It will arrive at the same time as the Complete Edition, which includes the full game and all its DLCs so far such as the CREO Special Employee Kit, the Fire & Ice Weapon Pack, and "A Walk in the Park."
